Last Month’s Meeting

DSC01312b_smallWe met at St. Martin’s Church where Peter Hambrook gave an entertaining overview of the Church, with a mixture of history, anecdotes and current problems of church maintenance. We learned of Butterfield’s restoration of the building in the mid 19th century and of the stories told in the stained glass windows. The evening was rounded off by a demonstration of bell ringing.

The picture  shows the stained glass window inserted in the 1850s.
