Daffodils in December?

December_daffodilsDaffodils flowering in December? These are in the field by the Village hall.

Roses have been flowering throughout the winter and snowdrops were in bloom in late November. What a mild, wet winter we are having!

Carols on the Green

Happy New Year to one and all.

A wet and miserable December was cheered by the lights glistening on the Christmas tree on the Green. It was donated and erected by David Solley and Carol_singing_2family. The rain held off on the evening of the 19th just long enough for us to sing all the carols on the song sheet.

Just as the first drops of rain started to fall we all moved inside the Village Hall where Brian Knight, ably assisted by John and Penny Swales, served us with mulled wine and hot mince pies.

Carol_singing_1As we enjoyed our warming festive fare we were entertained by a selection of carols ably performed by our St. Martin’s hand bell ringers led by Audrey Pitchford.

There was undoubtedly a lightness in our step as we walked home that evening.

70s_logoJanuary Meeting

After Alan Haines kept us all entertained by his unique and sometimes quirky reflection on the Sixties last year he is returning to give us his take on the Seventies. Using archive film photographs and more he will remind us of the news, entertainment and fashion of that decade.

As usual we will celebrate the first meeting of the year with a bit of a party, so could you bring along some comestibles (cake, sausage rolls, biscuits and the like). Beverages to be provided.

We meet at 7.30 at the Village Hall on 21st January.
